These animals are truly remarkable and a joy to own and raise.
At Spittin' Image Alpacas we strive to produce the best fiber and conformation with our very selective breeding program. We may not breed to the males with the most ribbons or the biggest names. Our eye for quality at times demands a different approach. We are always on the lookout for the "Diamond in the Rough" to create our own path. We have met some wonderful alpaca owners along the way that have unselfishly shared their experiences. We have never met such a wonderful group of people that are so collaborative versus competitive. There are many opportunities available for alpaca ownership and you don't even have to own your own land. We are more than pleased to share our experiences with new and seasoned alpaca owners.
It's all about the Fiber
The alpaca has a very soft and light fleece. It has thermal properties and does not retain water. Alpaca fiber is also flame resistant. Blending alpaca with other natural fibers can also be beneficial to the fiber industry. Alpacas are so easy on the environment with their padded feet. This makes the alpaca a truly green textile.
"Green" in the Bean
Alpaca manure (beans) is considered a rich soil conditioner. It does not need to be aged or composted before use. It can be spread directly onto your garden plants without burning them. We have had excellent results in our own green house. Bring a bucket or a truck we'll hook you up!
